Devon Community Foundation's fund is the official fundraising site.
A fund's been set up to raise money for those affected by the #exeterfire. A number of well-meaning people may have set up donation sites of their own, but this is the only official one. Devon Community Foundation and Exeter City Council are behind the Historic Exeter Fire Appeal which will help those suffering hardship; if they lose their jobs because businesses can't trade, for example.
The Bishop of Exeter is one of the Trustees.
It's early days, but the fund hopes:
- To respond swiftly to financial hardship for individuals and their families affected by the fire, such as staff of those businesses affected, especially if they will be strapped for cash at Christmas
- Support counselling and other services to help people cope with the emotional stress caused by the fire in the short and medium term.
- Assist small local businesses to ensure their survival and swift recovery as an essential part of the local community and economy through grants and, where applicable, loans.
- Help support the sympathetic restoration of the buildings over time.
