Lifeboat launched Thursday lunchtime
A kitesurfer who was reported to be in difficulty in the sea between Exmouth and Budleigh Salterton led to the RNLI being called out on Thursday lunchtime.
The coastguard altered the town's RNLI service around 11.40am on Thursday, following a 999 call.
Volunteer crew launched the inshore lifeboat to track down the kitesurfer between Sandy Bay and Budleigh Salterton beach, where he was reported to be struggling and apparently in difficulty.
The lifesavers searched the area but were stood down within the hour when the coastguard established the casualty had apparently recovered and was safe and well.
