Flooding hits the South West

The clean up operation starts today for people affected by flooding and heavy rain yesterday.

Devon was one of the worst hit areas in the country, with surface water causing disruption to transport and severe flooding in East Devon, Residents in Ottery St Mary said it was the highest they had ever seen the River Otter.

River levels are still very high, and a number of flood warnings are still in place across the South West.

The flood warning for the Lower Exe, including Exeter Quay, has been removed.

Trains between Exeter and Yeovil Junction still aren't running, and some events have been cancelled. Travel disruption on Saturday included the closure of the A30 near Honiton with smaller roads also impassable.
