Man critically injured in Exeter assault

Woman arrested

Police are appealing for information after a man was found in an Exeter street with serious head injuries.

The casualty, aged in his 40s, currently remains in a critical but stable condition at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

He was discovered by a member of the public in Hope Road, at its junction with Hoker Road, in Exeter, at around 6.50pm on Tuesday 5 May.

Officers are investigating how the man sustained the injuries and are appealing to any members of the public who may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector David Egan, of Exeter CID, said: “We are trying to understand the last movements of the injured male and would welcome any information from witnesses in the area who may have seen anything relevant at the time.”

A 44-year-old woman from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent and has been released on police bail until 3 June.
