Convictions for ill-treating animals in Devon went down last year compared to the year before.
In 2013 15 people were convicted for a total of 37 offences … some were prosecuted for more than one count of cruelty or neglect.... 2012 saw 32 people convicted for 74 offences.
However, across the south west as a whole the animal charity investigated more than 400 more complaints in 2013 than the previous year.
They also took a large number of calls from people needing information on caring for their animals
