The organisers of Exeter's food bank say changes to the benefits system are among the factors leading to a surge in the number of people needing to use the service.
It comes as charities are calling for an urgent parliamentary inquiry into the link between welfare reforms and the growing number of people unable to afford food.
The report by Oxfam and Church Action on Poverty estimates that half a million people across the UK used food banks last year, more than double the figure from the previous year.
Exeter food bank has seen a massive increase in demand - it's giving away 18 tonnes of food a year, compared to eight tonnes a few years ago.
Organisers say the welfare reforms are certainly causing more hardship, but the general economic climate and high cost of living is also making it hard for people to make ends meet.
