20,000 pallets destroyed in major fire
Investigations are underway after a massive fire broke out in Tavistock on Sunday [6 August 2023].
Fire crews were called to a warehouse on Tavistock Junction Freight Yard around 11 pm after reports that plumes of smoke could be seen for miles.
It's thought 15 to 20,000 pallets are thought to of been destroyed in the blaze.
Inspector Andy Dunlop said: “Thankfully no one was hurt and we didn’t need to evacuate any of the properties nearby. But this was only due to the fact we had heavy rain recently coupled with the excellent response from firefighters which meant the fire, whilst large, didn’t burn out of control.
No one was hurt in the incident, but tens of thousands of pounds in damage has been caused.
Anyone with information or CCTV footage is asked to call 101.
