With temperatures falling and energy prices rising, a local charity has launched a campaign to protect the elderly and vulnerable this winter.
The Devon Community Foundation's Surviving Winter Appeal is raising money for people in fuel poverty with the aim of cutting down health problems associated with the cold.
In Exeter, Mid and East Devon, nearly 23,000 people can't afford to heat their homes, resulting in 230 excess winter deaths.
The Foundation, and its celebrity backers Ann Widdicombe and Angela Rippon, are urging people to donate surplus winter fuel payments to the cause.
