Exeter horse rescued from ditch

Gelding fell at Clyst St Mary

A horse that fell in a ditch at Clyst St Mary and ended up on its side, unable to get up has been rescued by the fire service.

Although Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue's headquarters is nearby, it needed a fire appliance and heavy rescue unit from Middlemoor, together with water safety equipment from Exmouth, to help the horse,

A telehandler from the HQ a Clyst St George was also called for,

The service confirmed that a gelding, 17 hands high, was stuck in a ditch. He was rescued using strops, rescue lines and animal rescue equipment.
