'Knife incident' in Mutley Plain

Man seriously injured

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an incident in the early hours of Friday morning in the Mutley Plain area of Plymouth.

Police were called at 2:51 a.m. with reports of an incident taking place near the Premier Shop, where it was believed that one man had a knife.

Within six minutes, a 20-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and resisting arrest.

A local man in his thirties sustained serious injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Mutley Plain area was completely closed by police whilst scene investigation work took place.

It lasted until the morning rush hour, but at 7:45 a.m. most restrictions were opened up, although some smaller cordons stayed in place.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area and who has yet to have spoken with officers at the scene.
