Police unable to enforce in-car smoking ban

Devon and Cornwall Police say they don't want you to call them if you see someone smoking in a car with a child passenger.

 

A new law came into force today which can mean a fifty pound fine for those caught.


But police across the country say their resources are too stretched to enforce the legislation.

Devon and Cornwall police say their priorities on the roads are safety, and accident prevention and investigation - not people smoking in cars.
