Cops will train them on the biting bit
Devon and Cornwall Police need volunteer puppy walkers for its next generation of police dog.
Fast-track, hard-core, high-energy dogs are going through their training right now - and they are not the docile pets who might bring you your slippers or newspaper in return for a small treat.
Whilst putting out an appeal for walkers, police warn the dogs might rough up your garden.
Paul Glennon, canine development officer, says the dogs may put you off watching television "unless the dog likes Eastenders or Coronation Street."
That's generally not a characteristic of an animal that's more interested in sinking its teeth into villains.
But they also track down missing people and crowd control and they like doing that too.
Lynda Parlour has looked after 65 puppies and says the hardest part is saying goodbye when the time comes for the puppy to go to work full-time.
