After police expressed concerns about very strong Polish lager being sold to street drinkers, a shop in Torquay could lose its licence to sell alcohol.
A report to Torbay's licensing committee alleges Maja Polish store, in Market Street, is selling a lager which is 9% by volume, much higher than average.
Street drinkers are buying the lager and drinking it through straws to increase the effect resulting in many complaints about antisocial behaviour.
To counter the issue, the owner says he stopped selling the lager about six weeks ago, and has also increased the price of other beers.
Torbay's Licensing Committee will consider the matter next week.
