Arrests following Exmouth Festival after officer kicked

Police called to multiple incidents.

Devon and Cornwall Police attended a number of incidents in Exmouth this weekend - thought to be linked to the towns annual Festival.

Officers were called at around 8.45pm last night (Monday 27th May) to reports of a large number of teenagers having left the Exmouth Festival who were being rowdy on the roads and beaches.

Units attended and the group dispersed without further incident.

There was also reports of an altercation at Exmouth train station between a group of girls at around 10pm which lead to a police officer being kicked. Two girls aged 15 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

Later in the evening Police also arrested a further two teenage boys for public order offences, both were later taken home.

The free event was held over the 4 day Bank Holiday weekend at the Imperial Recreation Ground.

Many local people have now suggested the festival becomes a fee-paying event in order to fund extra security and bag searches.

We have contacted the organisers Exmouth Town Council for a comment.
