Devoncast is the local politics podcast from Radio Exe and the Local Democracy Reporting Service for Devon.
This week, ahead of our short summer break, we find out about the campaign to save our mobile libraries on this week’s Devoncast.
The county council last month voted to scrap the service, arguing it’s no longer value-for-money with three of its four vans needing replacing.
But opposition councillors against the cuts have managed to delay the plans. A petition to save the libraries has since been signed by more than 3,000 people and has received the backing of some famous authors.
Ollie Heptinstall speaks to Torridge Lib Dem councillor Cheryl Cottle-Hunkin, who’s behind the campaign.
