Devon bells toll in mourning

VIDEO: Exeter Cathedral's 99-toll tribute

Muffled bells, signifying mourning, have tolled from Exeter Cathedral, marking the death of the Duke of Edinburugh.

Prince Philip passed away at Windsor Castle on Friday morning at the age of 99.

Cannon chancellor at the cathedral, Chris Palmer says as well as a time of sadness, it's a time to give thanks for the Duke's commitment and his sense of duty and the way he has been a companion to the Queen.

Some people drove specifically to hear the cathedral bells.

Bell ringer David Herd was tolling for the first time for such a significant landmark.

The union flag flew at half mast too at Powderham Castle, where people also attended the ancestral home of the Earl of Devon.
