He'd driven into standing water
A man was rescued, after driving his van into floodwater in North Devon on Saturday morning.
Firefighters from Barnstaple were called to Dipper Mill, near Shebbear, after heavy rain from Storm Jorge hit the region.
They donned drysuits and "waded out" into the water with a rescue sled, to save the stranded man
In a statement, the fire service added: "The two remaining [firefighters] were on the bank providing downstream protection, ready with throw lines if anyone slipped and got swept away.
"The rescue sled was taken to the van and the driver loaded onto it, with a life jacket, and then brought back to the safety of the road."
