Alexander Lewis-Ranwell from Croyde in North Devon, wasn't at the hearing at Exeter Crown Court.
The 27-year old is alleged to have killed 84-year-old twins Dick and Roger Carter, as well as Anthony Payne who was 80, in two separate incidents last month.
He's also accused of two counts of causing grievous bodily harm.
Exeter Crown Court heard the trial could start in November.
Another hearing will take place in June.
