The Exeter Chiefs rugby player Craig Mitchell has been found guilty of bringing the club and the game of rugby union into disrepute..... in an internal disciplinary hearing into his conviction in Australia for assaulting a man in a bar.
The club's chief executive and head coach have viewed CCTV footage of the incident last week in a bar in Brisbane.
In a court hearing there, Mitchell admitted an assault charge and was given a six month suspended sentence and a fine.
The Chiefs say they feel this is sufficient punishment.. but have given him a written warning that any similar transgression in the next six months could lead to his contract at the club being terminated.
