"I thought wouldn't make it"
A swimmer who was saved by North Devon lifeguards is running the London Marathon to raise money for the charity.
Steve Bragg was on holiday with his family in Woolacombe when he got into trouble in May of last year.
Steve said ” I thought wouldn't make it and was close to giving up, but luckily, a nearby paddleboarder helped my niece to safety.”
“All I kept thinking I was going to die out there, but luckily, I heard the jet skis come over, and a lifeguard on a rescue board helped me back to shore.”
He's one of 50 people supporting the RNLI at the annual running event this weekend.
This charity has saved more than 400 lives over the last five years and covered a large amount of costs from lifeguard training and equipment to maintaining its fleet of over 33 lifeboats.
