Government cuts to tax credits next April will leave more than sixteen thousand working families in this area 'significantly' worse off, according to Unison.
The union have based their figure on the number of families currently claiming tax credits in the constituencies of Exeter, Tiverton and Honiton, Devon Central and Devon East.
They've calculated that the low to middle income families affected could lose as much as three thousand pounds a year.
Yet UNISON think many of them don't realise what's in store for them and will get a shock when letters from the tax office arrive at the end of this year.
