Exeter library 3D prints face shields
Exeter Library comes to rescue printing face shields for NHS Staff.
The first batch went out today (2nd April) around hospitals with the second batch already hot of the press!
In peacetime, FabLab Devon is a small digital printing workshop teaching people digital fabrication. But with the library closed and the NHS in need of Personal Protection Equipment the machines have been busy day and night making face shields on a 3D printer.
The first batch went out today (2nd April) around hospitals with the second batch already hot of the press!
Steve Turner, Head of Commercial & Innovation at Libraries Unlimited said “Our physical libraries may be closed but I am inspired by the creative projects our library staff are developing and delivering. We are finding new ways to help our local communities and this FabLab initiative is an excellent example of how libraries can support others.”
There still a long way to go though, FabLab is seeking new volunteers so more visors can be printed over the next days, weeks and months.
