Cyclist hit by lorry

Man, 70s, has head injury

Police are appealing for information after reports of a hit and run near Bideford.

Emergency services were called just after 1pm on Thursday 26 March to the A388 between Monkleigh and Salterns to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a lorry.

The cyclist, a man in his 70s, was located by an off duty police officer having come off his bike to the side of the road. He sustained an injury to his head and was taken to North Devon District Hospital and later discharged.

The vehicle is described as a grey lorry. We do not have any further description at this time.

Police are appealing to speak to anyone who was in the area between 12.45pm and 1.05pm and saw anything which may assist the investigation. The cyclist was wearing a blue and white helmet and a white cycling top with black cycling bib.

Anyone who was travelling in the area and may have dash-cam footage of the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 or email 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 320 26 March.
