A man has been charged with assaulting a police officer in Exeter on Good Friday [10 April].
The incident happened at 11pm on Longbrook Street.
38-year-old Michael Blatchford, from the city, is charged with assault, causing actual bodily harm, of an emergency worker, following the attack on the female officer.
The 34-year-old police constable was left with significant injuries to her mouth and teeth.
Blatchford was remanded in custody to appear at Exeter Magistrates' Court on 13 April and is due to appear at Exeter Crown Court on 15 May.
