A man has died after being hit by an ambulance around dawn on Saturday morning.
Paramedics were on their way to an emergency call when the ambulance collided with a pedestrian on the on the A380 near Kingskerswell, known as the South Devon Highway, around 4.10am.
The man sustained serious injuries and was taken to Torbay District Hospital but despite the efforts of medical staff, he died. Both carriageways were closed for a time but the southbound carriageway reopened a few hours later.

Police say they're working with the South Western Ambulance Service Trust to investigate the circumstances that led to the collision. They're asking for people not to speculate about the cause.
They're asking for witnesses or anyone who nay have dashcam footage which may have captured either the vehicle or the pedestrian before the incident to get in touch.
