Police investigating alleged double attack in Paignton

A 19-year-old man has been arrested

Police are investigating after two assaults allegedly took place last night in Paignton.

The first took place at around 7:30pm in The Pickwick Inn, Victoria Street. It is believed that there was an altercation in the pub involving four men who had been asked to leave.

One of the group threw a glass which stuck a man who was then subsequently further assaulted by the group before they left the pub; he sustained cuts and bruising as well as an injury to his back.

The group were then were involved in second assault in which a 50-year-old female was assaulted and left unconscious on Victoria Street.

Police enquiries continue, including the reviewing of CCTV in the area.

A 19-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody and awaits questioning.
